Edie Brickell
США
Добавлен 5 май 2020
Edie Brickell was a pioneer of sorts, reviving the gangly sound of hippie folk-rock in the late 1980s, just before it became trendy. With her band New Bohemians, Brickell scored an unexpected Top Ten hit in 1988 with "What I Am," a dreamy, loose-limbed number that quietly stood in opposition to the heady materialism of the '80s. While the band never managed to replicate the commercial success of "What I Am," the song remained a staple of its era, and Brickell parlayed its enduring popularity into an unpredictable career that stretched over the decades. Following the disbandment of New Bohemians in the early '90s, Brickell spent some time on a solo career before experiencing a renaissance in the 2010s, first with the Gaddabouts and then with a series of albums with Steve Martin -- a stretch that culminated in the 2018 reunion of New Bohemians.

"Pill" is from the self titled album Edie release January 11, 2011. Ryan Sears was the creative genius behind the music video for the song “Pill” in 2011. By taking Edie’s drawings and animating them in the style of the old Monty Python animation, Ryan was able to create an beautiful narration.

Ms. Brickell, Edie, I have been a huge fan of yours and your music since you and New Bohemians burst onto the scene so forcefully with brilliance and insights into human nature. Myself at 72, became a fan of your husband with the music from The Graduate, then loved his solo resurgence in 1975, an album we Visual Art Graduate Students at The University of Florida played until the record grooves wore out. Your dynamism, his brilliance, and the soul that each of you have so strongly inspire me as a painter and photographer. I invite you to come to the Troy Farmers Market any Saturday morning this summer (9 Am - 2 Pm) for a wonderful experience of Happy Hipsters, children and more dogs than you can count all enjoying quality nosh and an elevated spirit. I will make the same offer to you that I did to John Sebastian: choose any piece of art of mine as my gift back to you, for the gifts you have given me and so many others. enolde@yahoo.com reaches me. I would NEVER reveal yours. Privacy and Protection are your absolute Rights that must be maintained. I would happily donate more of my art for the Foundation you support. I am a retired College Art Professor as of 2 years ago, a 4 year volunteer teacher of English to young people throughout Poland, a second generation Italian-American, --former BEST friend of the also great musician Jaco Pastorius between 4th and 8th grade, and keyboard player in his 1964 Beatles-inspired first band, "The Sonics". We performed together at the School Talent Show that year, wearing Beatles' wigs . I got to see him at Tanglewood in 1979 when he was touring with Joni Mitchell, met the woman who became his second wife, was invited to the musician's trailer for introductions (no, Joni had her own). Celebrities don't intimidate me, nor do I glom onto them. You are people and I am people. We each have our talents, which I feel we have the joy AND responsibility to share with others in this grand adventure of life. Paul couldn't get away with a disguise. but I think you could! People are calling revitalized Troy (a 19th century city of importance) "the New Brooklyn"--but without the spotlights. Just good, decent folks enjoying the simple things of life and working for a saner, kinder world. YOUR kind of people, methinks!
My goodness! Thank you for sharing. This is truly wonderful and touched my soul right when I needed it. Thank you kindly.
Love it ‼️ more please❤️🤗
It's a Collings guitar advertisement, folks. It might be charming but, only in the way that the Clydesdales are charming in those Budweiser commercials of yesteryear.
Cute❤❤
Edie Brickell lovely as ever
I honestly was going to say is this the daughter of the girl who sang "What I am" in the 80's !
Where are the new bohemians?
This is charming in so many ways. Not the least is Edie's guitar playing! I must watch it twice a day.
